JOB PURPOSE Working as part of PICS Business Support Unit [BSU],theSeniorHealth Care Assistant[HCA]will contributetodelegated tasks and duties both clinical and administrative.The Senior HCAworks underdirect &indirect supervision fromboth the Business Support Manager and theLead Nurse / Deputy MedicalDirector.The post holder will undertake a range of activities, having been assessed anddeemedcompetent in the activitiesrequired. The post holderwillsupportthe BSU by working acrossestablished clinics and servicesand will also be involved in research in primary care across foursites. This willpositivelyincrease practiceresearch capacity and enhancehealth promotion &engagement with patients,by providing clinical& administrativesupport in undertaking research studies,both practice and community based. The roleis expected to contribute toPICSaimof providing high quality, safe and effectiveclinicalcare to the practicepopulation. The postholder will contribute,within the BSU,effective and efficient administrative services bydemonstratingaccuracy and attention to detail in completion of medicalrecords, preparation of written reports/letters andelectronic mail. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ClinicalPractice: Assistingclinicians withappointments for clinics/services and research relatedclinical activity Ensuringtheconsent taken by the registered health care professional is still ongoing, prior to any clinical procedure or research activity. Administrationof intramuscular and subcutaneous injections relating to transgender care To perform venepuncture for patients including patients from sixteen years old, using vacutainer system Urinalysisusingappropriate equipment, preparingsamples for hospital transportation and analysis ifrequired To perform physiological assessments, asrequired, for recruiting research studieswhich may also include regular follow up. Tomonitorstock and place orders for pathology itemsas required by the BSUand its associatedclinics/services. To measure and record onSystmOnetemplates, physiological signs - alerting a registered practitioner inan appropriate timeframeif physiological signs are outside normal parameters. Blood pressure Pulse rate and rhythm Temperature Oxygen saturations ECGrecording To prepare, whenrequired, the clinic rooms for appointments,ensuringthatclinicroomsused by the BSUare checkedwithstock replenishedand rotated asrequired, ensuring that stock is checked re expiry dates. Check sharps bins are appropriately labelled, secured and replaced asappropriate. To act as a chaperone, whenrequired, during examinations and procedures To perform other tasks as appropriately trained and agreed to meet the needs of theservice.
