Job summary

Our ideal candidate will be a proactive team player who is highly motivated and demonstrates great leadership and communication skills. The key responsibilities of the Theatre Practitioner will be to focus on patient centered care; covering cataract, oculoplastic and a full range of eye surgeries. The successful candidate will assist with the safe and efficient delivery of ophthalmology services, whilst participating in pathways for all patients from pre-admission, surgery and post-operative management. We will provide training so experience is not always needed. Newmedica are one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We aim to change lives through better sight and eye health. Ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Work in accordance with clinical governance and NMC/HPC practice and guidelines. Adhere to policy and procedures at all times. Ensure correct reporting of incidents and accidents, whilst supporting senior staff in the investigation of complaints and clinical incidents, ensuring that investigations are thorough and that action plans are completed to enable lessons to be learned and shared. Accurate recordings of patient information, updating electronic patient records or completing handwritten clinical notes. Administer medication in accordance with guidelines. Provide scrub experience for clinical procedures whilst also assisting consultants and the clinical team within ophthalmic care. Be clinically competent in all areas of clinical practice relevant to the post. Managing theatre equipment, ensure it is checked daily, ready to use and stored correctly. Assist with stock control. Ensure own professional knowledge is continuously updated. To participate in personal objectives, including personal development plans, appraisal process, clinical audits and surveys. To act as a role model and teacher, providing mentorship and support to all members of the team. Promote a professional and happy environment conductive to high patient and staff morale, achieved by leadership, personal example and direct involvement in the activities of the department environment. Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
