Lead Software Architect

<p>Lead Software Architect - Cambridge</p> <p>Salary up to &#163;91k dependent on experience</p> <p>2-3 days per week on site</p> <p>Lead Software Architect required for a leading client based in Cambridge.</p> <p>This senior role will take ownership of software architecture and delivery across a key product or platform area, turning product priorities and solution designs into scalable, well-architected software.</p> <p>You'll act as the link between product, solution design and engineering, ensuring the technical direction is clear, maintainable and aligned to wider strategy.</p> <p>The role will also lead software engineering teams, support hands-on delivery where needed, and drive the adoption of AI-enhanced engineering practices to improve quality and throughput.</p> <p>Key skills and responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong senior-level software architecture experience, including service-oriented, event-driven and API-first design.</li><li>Good knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containers, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.</li><li>Understanding of secure development, authentication, authorisation and data protection.</li><li>Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments with distributed engineering teams.</li><li>Practical knowledge of AI-assisted development tools, including benefits and risks.</li><li>Proven experience as a Lead/Senior Architect, Principal Engineer or similar, owning a product or platform end to end.</li><li>Strong engineering background, with experience building and shipping large-scale production systems.</li><li>Hands-on knowledge of modern technologies, including TypeScript, Node.js, Vue.js or React.</li><li>Ability to design scalable, secure and resilient solutions aligned to business needs.</li><li>Experience leading distributed teams, including offshore, nearshore or contract engineers.</li><li>Able to translate product and solution designs into clear engineering delivery.</li><li>Pragmatic problem-solver with strong decision-making and delivery focus.</li><li>Clear communicator, confident challenging and influencing across teams.</li></ul> <p>Interested?
