Consultant in Haematology

We are excited to advertise a 7.5 PA consultant post within the Haematology department here at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust. The successful candidate will join a team of 7 other consultants working across Hemel hospital (outpatient clinic) and Watford Hospital (outpatient clinic, day unit and in patient care). The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the usual clinical activities of the haematology department at Hemel Hempstead Hospital and Watford General Hospital such as outpatient clinics, consultant ward round/ board round, laboratory work (overseeing blood film and bone marrow reporting), Advice & Guidance service for GPs, clinical input to Haematology Day Unit, Haemato-oncology MDT, ad hoc morphology teaching and regular formal teaching to the speciality trainees, and departmental operational meeting attendance. Inpatient care is provided at Watford General Hospital. Attending consultants are rotating every two weeks, frequency 1 in 5. The consultant will provide continuing responsibility for patient care in partnership with other colleagues. With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
